The"Sea Dart"...And An U.F.O.

The Convair XF2Y-1 Sea Dart In Action

DVDs Now Available At Project P.R.O.V.E.!

In the late 1940s and early 1950s, the US Navy were interested in a fighter jet which could take off and land on water. This concept was put into practice by Convair with their entry in the competition, the Convair XF2Y-1 Sea Dart.

I was viewing a documentary on this unique airplane not too long ago, on the Discovery Wings Channel. Film of an early 1950s flight test of the Sea Dart included something that didn't seem to fit in. There was an object which appeared very briefly in the sequence, and it didn't behave as a normal aircraft at all. In fact, it takes a short sudden dive before turning back toward the sky and disappearing out the top of the screen! As we take a look at the photos and animated GIFs of the event on the film below, please keep in mind that the early 1950s saw the most intense UFO flap in recorded history.

Watch the anomaly in relation to the indicated ground feature to see that it takes a short dive. It then turns back upward and leaves the scene. This is hightly unusual behavior for any sort of aircraft NOW, let alone over 50 years ago. Also, please note that the object is cigar, or disk, shaped. This is very much like the object I Saw For Myself in 1974, and another which flew over the Muroc Dry Lake test site when Chuck Yeager was preparing for the First Supersonic X-1 Flight in 1947.

Now for the natural speed animated GIF. You can see that the camera remains steady on the horzontal axis. That object is fast too! Next, another single frame to help orient you for the slower GIF.

The yellow track at upper left shows the odd "dip" this object took on its way out the top of the frame. Such a maneuver would subject a human pilot to incredible "G" forces; possibly enough to cause a black out. NOT normal behavior for conventional fliers over San Diego in the early 1950s.

Now that the action is slowed down, can YOU see the strange way this object was flying? To me there is no doubt that it's an U.F.O.

At the end of the day, it's up to YOU to draw your own conclusions.
