FAR OUT MAN! (1990)

WITH A "ROD"

DVDs Now Available At Project P.R.O.V.E.!

In 1990 Thomas Chong, the famous comedian, made a movie named "Far Our Man!" which included some members of his family in the cast. The film was not a great commercial success, but it does have a bit of a "cult" following. Personally I found the film to be hilarious. Some may recall the 1970s vintage comedy team of Cheech and Chong. Well remembered amongst my generation.

During the movie, two of the players stopped their car by the side of a road in order to shed their coats. At this point, an object zipped through the scene very quickly. It was almost too fast for the eye. I nearly missed it myself. The object bears a startling resemblance to the "Rods" made famous by Jose Escamilla of Roswell, New Mexico.

Below is an animated GIF made from frames taken out of the movie. This GIF actually slows the speed of the object to make it easier to watch. In the original movie it was little more than motion to catch the eye. Some might say this is a bird, but the film was shot on location in the Los Angeles California area. I was born and raised in this area, and I can attest that there are no species of birds in this part of California which are both white, and small enough to fly this fast. I suppose there is the very small possibility that this is an albino bird of the sparrow or finch families but it seems highly unlikely.
