Ice-Cream Cone U.F.O. |
|
This case is from 1967 It was reported by Captain Underhill, Airline Pilot |
As we were approaching the Pyrenees (Mountains between Spain and France), from the direction of Barcelona, I noticed an object passing from left to right at what I can only describe as ultra-sonic speed. Having established the fact that it was a definite object I asked the other crew members if they could see it, and what they thought it to be. The engineer was first to sight it, but made no comment as to what it was. When the first officer sighted it, the object had slowed down and was in a turn, he said, "It looks like a formation". At this time I agreed, for the dark shape had the look of a formation in a turn. As we all watched, the object appeared to come directly for us, being at first a black mass and then assuming the shape which I can only describe as an invert ice-cream cone as it passed to our starboard. During this period the first officer pressed the stewards call button and the steward came up in time to see the object pass us by, he exclaimed, "Good God! What is it?" When we discussed what we had seen everyone of us agreed as to the shape & color, also to the inclination of the object. First officer also made this report: The object appeared metallic and silver in color, size difficult to ascertain, longish - airship size. Distance of first sighting 50-60 miles. On passing - fairly close. Weather clear with haze. Sun in or "on" port illuminating object but weak with approaching sunset. Speed was extremely fast at first, this is what drew my attention to it. It then slowed down and was quite low when passing, no drift was apparent at our altitude. No noticeable effect on radio etc., but we were too intent on viewing to check. Official report was made to Air ministry (Ministry of Defence) at Manston. Duty officer was most interested, and had himself seen an object many years ago. He also had many reports since as a result of this experience. A telephone call was received the following day from an official body, and they appeared to know the shape. Two American organizations have since contacted us for information. We also have the reports from the First Officer & the Steward. These reports confirm what has been stated above. It is also interesting to note that even 35+ years ago, some form of official body was interested in these sightings, and they seemed to be familiar with the shape of the object. Was this because it was one of their black projects; or because they have had many reports from such credible witnesses describing such strange craft?
At the end of the day, it's up to YOU to draw your own conclusions.
